
so basically the US and Ukraine are trying to hammer out this peace plan with Russia but its like they're playing this crazy game of whack-a-mole

where you whack one down and two more pop up in its place, you know?
anyway, I think it's cool that Ukraine is pushing for some security guarantees under Article 5-style protection, that's a pretty big deal. But at the same time, it's all about Russia wanting its cake and eating it too

, they're like "hey, we'll stop the war if you agree to our demands" which is like the ultimate cop-out, you can't just threaten someone into accepting your terms.
also, I'm a bit skeptical of the idea that Trump's pressure or whatever is making Russia more receptive to negotiations, I think Putin's just playing this whole thing out to see how far he can push Ukraine before they crack

. it's gonna be interesting to see what happens next, especially with those European amendments getting thrown into the mix
