Trump awards medals to the Kennedy Center honorees including Sylvester Stallone, George Strait and more

President Trump Hosts 2025 Kennedy Center Honorees, Praising Their Accomplishments and Legacy.

In a ceremony in the Oval Office, President Trump honored five artists with the prestigious Kennedy Center Honors award. This year's honorees include actor Sylvester Stallone, singers Gloria Gaynor and George Strait, rock band Kiss, and actor-singer Michael Crawford.

Trump described this year's class as "perhaps the most accomplished and renowned class" ever assembled. The president praised each of the artists individually, highlighting their significant contributions to American arts and culture. Trump stated that he knows many of them personally and has been a fan of all of them.

During the ceremony, each honoree received a new medal designed by Tiffany & Co., featuring the Kennedy Center's image on one side and their name on the reverse. The medals were worn around a navy blue ribbon instead of the traditional rainbow-colored ribbon adorned with three gold plates that rested on the honorees' shoulders.

The president spoke highly of each recipient, including Stallone, calling him "wonderful" and "spectacular." Trump also praised George Strait as "the king of country," Gloria Gaynor as "the disco queen," Kiss as "an incredible rock band," and Michael Crawford for his lead role in the long-running "Phantom of the Opera."

The ceremony marked a change from previous years, when the honorees received their medals at an annual State Department dinner. Trump moved the ceremony to the White House this year.

In August, President Trump announced that he was "about 98% involved" in choosing this year's honorees, despite the selection process being led by a bipartisan committee in previous years. The president's involvement in selecting the honorees has been a subject of controversy, with some artists canceling performances and staff members resigning due to changes made to the Kennedy Center.

The Kennedy Center Honors program will be taped on Sunday and broadcast on CBS television stations and Paramount+ on December 23 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. President Trump is expected to attend the broadcast for the first time as president, accompanied by his wife, first lady Melania Trump.

idk about this, seems like trump's trying too hard to be seen as artsy, you feel? i mean, he's praising these artists and saying he knows them personally, but at the same time, there's all this controversy surrounding how the honorees were chosen... like, what's up with that? 😐 and another thing, why are they changing the way they receive their medals now? it seems kinda weird. πŸ€”

I'm calling BS on this one πŸ€”. I mean, come on, President Trump hosting the Kennedy Center Honors in the Oval Office? That's not exactly a neutral or objective space for an award ceremony. And let's be real, he's been all over the place with his involvement in selecting these honorees... from being 98% involved to saying he knows them personally and has been a fan of all of them πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. It just doesn't add up. I'd love to see some more info on that selection process and who's actually behind the scenes making sure everything runs smoothly. This whole thing feels like a PR stunt to me πŸ“Ί.

I'm low-key surprised they're still honoring these legends after all the drama πŸ€”. I mean, it's cool that Trump acknowledged their contributions to American arts and culture, but some of these changes feel like a publicity stunt to me πŸ“Ί. Like, why move the ceremony to the White House if you're just gonna change things around? And what's up with the new medal design? It's a bit too flashy for my taste πŸ’Ž. Still, it's nice that they're recognizing these talented individuals and their hard work πŸ’ͺ. And can we talk about Sylvester Stallone for a sec? The guy's been slaying since Rocky πŸ₯Š!

Ugh, this whole thing just reeks of cronyism 🀒. I mean, come on, a bipartisan committee chooses the honorees and then it's all about Trump saying what he wants? "Perhaps the most accomplished and renowned class" ever assembled... yeah right, sounds like a total PR stunt to me πŸ“£. And who cares if they're "influenced" by him 98%? That's just code for "he's pulling strings behind the scenes". I don't trust this ceremony one bit, it's all about Trump trying to boost his own image and legacy πŸ’β€β™‚οΈ.

Ugh, gotta love how Trump's getting all extra with these Kennedy Center Honors πŸ™„. I mean, I guess it's cool that he's giving them a special medal designed by Tiffany & Co., but the navy blue ribbon is just so... understated πŸ˜’. And what's up with the non-traditional ceremony at the White House? It feels like more of a photo op for Trump than an actual celebration of these talented artists πŸ“Έ.

And yeah, I'm sure it's "interesting" that Trump was "98% involved" in choosing this year's honorees 😏. Who needs a bipartisan committee when you've got the president's personal taste, right? It's not like some people might be protesting his involvement or anything... πŸ™„.

On a more serious note, it's still awesome that these artists are being recognized for their contributions to American arts and culture. Sylvester Stallone is basically a rockstar, Gloria Gaynor is the ultimate disco queen, and Kiss is just... well, they're Kiss πŸ˜‚. Can't wait to see them all on TV in December πŸ“Ί.

I gotta say, I'm a bit surprised that Trump's being so hands-on with selecting the Kennedy Center Honorees πŸ€”. It feels like it could lead to some bias, you know? And what's up with the new medal design? It just doesn't feel as fancy or traditional as before πŸ’Έ. I mean, I love George Strait and Gloria Gaynor as much as anyone, but do we really need Trump praising them so heavily? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ As for Stallone, I guess it's nice that he's getting the recognition, but shouldn't it be based on his actual work rather than just being a fan favorite? 🎬

I'm not sure about this whole Kennedy Center Honors thing... πŸ€” I mean, President Trump hosting the ceremony and all that jazz. It feels like he's trying too hard to be liked by everyone, you know? And with him being 98% involved in choosing the honorees, it's kinda shady. Some artists have already canceled performances because of the changes made to the Kennedy Center, which is pretty concerning.

On the other hand, I guess it's awesome that President Trump is giving these artists a shoutout and recognizing their hard work. Sylvester Stallone, Gloria Gaynor, George Strait, Kiss, and Michael Crawford are all legends in their own right! πŸ™Œ It'll be interesting to see how the ceremony plays out on TV, especially with the new medal design and all that.

Anyway, I'm curious to watch the broadcast and see what it's like. Maybe President Trump will surprise us all with some heartfelt words or something 😊. We'll just have to wait and see! πŸ‘€

I'm so impressed that Sylvester Stallone got honored he's an icon in Hollywood 🀯πŸ’₯ and I love how George Strait is called the "king of country" - his music is so classic 😎🎸 and what's up with Kiss getting their own medal design? Tiffany & Co. did a sick job πŸ’β€β™€οΈπŸ‘‘

I'm not surprised that Trump hosted the Kennedy Center Honors ceremony in the Oval Office πŸ€”... it's a big deal and all, but let's be real, this guy is known for being super flashy and attention-seeking πŸŽ‰. I love Sylvester Stallone and Gloria Gaynor as much as the next person, but come on, Trump knows them personally? πŸ˜‚ probably only because he's tried to use their talent to boost his own image. And what's up with the new medal design? Navy blue ribbon instead of the traditional rainbow-colored one? feels like a small change for a big deal... and another thing, why did he make all these changes to the ceremony in the first place? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Trump's move to host the Kennedy Center Honors in the Oval Office is kinda weird, feels like he's trying to show off or something πŸ€”. I mean, the artists are all legends and all, but the ceremony itself felt a bit awkward with the new medal design and navy blue ribbon... it's just not traditional anymore 😐. And what's up with the president being so involved in choosing the honorees? Like, 98% of it, huh? Can't help but wonder if there's more to it than just praising their accomplishments πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. Still, I guess it's a nice gesture for the artists and all...

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole thing... Like, I know Sylvester Stallone is a legendary actor and all, but "perhaps the most accomplished and renowned class" ever assembled? That's pretty bold, you know? And what's up with these new medals? I mean, Tiffany & Co. is cool and all, but can't we stick to tradition?

And, I gotta ask, 98% involved in choosing the honorees? Like, isn't that a bit of an overstatement? I mean, I know Trump is all about being a big shot, but come on... And, sorry, but I'm still not sure if this whole thing feels right. Is it just me or does anyone else get weird vibes from all these changes?

Anyway, I guess it's gonna be cool to see the ceremony on TV with my fam πŸ“ΊπŸ‘ͺ

Trump's obsession with awards is getting out of hand πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ, and I'm not sure what's more cringeworthy - the fact that he's choosing the honorees himself or that the ceremony was moved to the White House from the State Department dinner... it just feels like another ego trip for him πŸ’β€β™‚οΈ. And can we talk about how ridiculous the new medal design is? It looks like something Tiffany & Co. would slap together in a hurry πŸ€ͺ. The only good news is that Gloria Gaynor, aka the disco queen, still knows how to bring the party πŸ•ΊπŸ». Still, I'm not holding my breath for this ceremony - it's going to be all about Trump and his ego, and I'd rather watch paint dry 😴.

idk why ppl still r into this Kennedy thing, feels like an old dudes club πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. trump hosting it in oval office sounds cool but cmon, its not like hes doing anyone any favors just giving them a medal lol. stallone is iconic tho, cant deny that πŸ’ͺ. kiss rockin on tho! πŸ‘Š michael crawford's phanto thing is still fire btw 🎭. and whats with the navy blue ribbon? wasnt it always rainbow or smthn? anyway, trump seems to know his stuff, even if some ppl are salty about him doing it πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I dont no how much more of this stuff i can take lol these honorees are amazing and i love that trump is hyping them so hard but like who gets to choose the honorees in the first place? its not even just him, there's some bipartisan committee involved which is good i guess...the ceremony looks pretty cool though, especially with the new medal design by Tiffany & Co. πŸ€‘

i mean can u imagine if these honorees had to deal with controversy over the selection process? it would be wild! but in all seriousness, its great that trump is acknowledging their accomplishments and legacy...even if some ppl are a little skeptical about his role in the process πŸ€”

omg I'm freaking out over this Kennedy Center Honors ceremony!!! πŸ€©πŸ’« Sylvester Stallone and George Strait are legends in my eyes!! 😍🎸 I've been a huge fan of Stallone's Rocky movies since forever πŸ₯ŠπŸƒβ€β™‚️ and George Strait is the king of country, no debate 🀠🎢 Kiss is also iconic, but they're kinda weird for me lol 😜 Michael Crawford is amazing too, Phantom of the Opera is one of my all-time faves πŸŽπŸ’” I'm so hyped that President Trump hosted the ceremony and praised each of them individually - it's about time they got some recognition! 😊 The new medal design by Tiffany & Co. is gorgeous btw πŸ’ŽπŸ‘

man this is a low point for america πŸ€• the ceremony sounds super awkward with trump praising himself lol who does he think he is anyway? and 98% involved in choosing the honorees? that's just ridiculous πŸ™„ and some artists even cancelled their performances because of him? that's what we need more of in this country, less drama and more respect for actual artistry πŸ’”

You know what's crazy? We're always trying to figure out who we are and what we stand for, just like these artists did with their work 🀯. They didn't let anyone define them or limit their potential, they went out there and created something amazing! That's the lesson here - our success is not just about us, it's about how we make a difference in others' lives too 🌈.

And think about it, what does it say when someone like President Trump gets to decide who gets an award? It raises questions about bias and fairness. But at the same time, it shows that even someone with a lot of power can be moved by something as beautiful as art 🎨. Maybe we should all try to be more open-minded and celebrate each other's differences instead of judging them.

Anyway, I'm glad these artists are getting the recognition they deserve. Let's take away a lesson from their work - that it's okay to take risks and pursue your passions, even if nobody knows what you're doing 🎭.

aww man... i feel like its so cool that president trump is giving these amazing artists a huge shoutout πŸ™Œ! they deserve it so much, especially sylvester stallone - i love rocky and all the iconic movies he made πŸ’ͺ. george strait as "the king of country" - what can u say? 😊 kiss rocks out in a way that still resonates with us today πŸ”₯. michael crawford's phantom vocals give me chills every time 🎢. cant wait to watch the broadcast on dec 23 and see all these talented artists shine under one roof πŸ’«

omg i cant even believe the ceremony was in the oval office lol its like a whole new level of prestige 🀯 meanwhile im over here stressing about my upcoming math exam and wondering if i got my notes right πŸ“πŸ“š at least these artists are getting recognized for their hard work and contributions to american arts and culture, that's def something to get hyped about πŸ’ͺ also i feel bad for the staff members who had to resign due to changes made by president trump, that sucks πŸ˜”
