A shipment of live ammunition for German soldiers was stolen from a delivery truck parked in an unguarded lot overnight, with the theft estimated to be around 20,000 rounds. The incident occurred after the driver left the vehicle to spend the night at a nearby hotel, allowing thieves to rummage through the cargo.

Police and military officials launched an investigation into the theft, which has raised security concerns about who may have acquired the lost supplies. Defence ministry officials said they take the incident "very seriously" as live ammunition is highly regulated and must not fall into the wrong hands.

This latest incident follows a series of similar thefts in the eastern Saxony-Anhalt region over the past few months, with 90 rounds missing from a truck in August and another 180 rounds lost weeks earlier. The motive behind the thefts remains unclear.
