Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair – what does the new Tarantino cut offer?

Quentin Tarantino's magnum opus, Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair, has finally arrived after 20 years in limbo. This sprawling revenge saga, which was originally split into two volumes and released nearly a decade apart, is now reassembled into a single, four-and-a-half-hour behemoth that promises to deliver an unparalleled viewing experience.

The new cut is not dramatically different from the original two-movie version; Tarantino has largely undone his earlier decision to split the film. However, some minor tweaks have been made, with several key scenes now presented in a more cohesive and seamless manner. For instance, the infamous House of Blue Leaves sequence, which was originally shown in black-and-white, is now fully colored, adding even greater impact to its already-stunning visuals.

One notable addition, however, is an animated "lost" chapter set within the film's narrative, showcasing Yuki, Gogo's twin sister, seeking revenge against the Bride. This non-canonical bonus feature, created specifically for a Fortnite video game tie-in, feels like a bizarre and inconsequential detour – though it does demonstrate Tarantino's willingness to push boundaries and experiment with new formats.

The real question is whether this longer version truly changes our perception of Kill Bill. The answer is largely no; while the additional footage does give us more of O-Ren Ishii's backstory and Elle Driver's character development, the overall story remains the same. Tarantino's decision to resist cutting the film down has been vindicated by the sheer power of Uma Thurman's performance as the Bride – her raw emotionality, physicality, and charisma now more than ever make this epic revenge tale feel like a true masterpiece.

Indeed, Kill Bill is an experiential event that defies traditional notions of pacing and narrative structure. At 270 minutes, it's a cinematic marathon that demands your full attention and investment. And yet, even without the extended cut, Tarantino's film remains an essential work – one that transcends its influences to become something greater than the sum of its parts.

For fans who have lived with Kill Bill for nearly two decades, this longer version offers a fascinating opportunity to re-experience Quentin Tarantino's magnum opus in all its glory. And for newcomers, it's an invitation to immerse themselves in Tarantino's unique world and witness the unbridled energy of one of cinema's greatest directors at work.

OMG I just saw a video of some anime series that was 2x longer than normal 🤯, like who has time for that? anyway back to Kill Bill... I remember seeing it in theaters when it first came out and I loved it so much! Uma Thurman is literally the queen 🤴♀️, her acting skills are insane. I also noticed they added a bunch of extra scenes to the movie which makes sense since it's like 4.5 hours long now 🕰️, you gotta have some filler right? Does anyone know how I can watch this new cut online?

I'm low-key hyped that Kill Bill is finally back 🤯! 20 years felt like forever waiting for this reassembled cut, but it was worth it - I mean, who wouldn't want to see more O-Ren and Elle? 🤑 The added animation is actually kinda cool, even if it feels a bit tacked on 💥. But let's be real, the real star of the show is still Uma Thurman's performance 🤩. That woman can bring the heat 🔥! As for whether this version changes our perception of Kill Bill... idk, man - I think Tarantino already knew he was onto something special with this one 💪. Can't wait to re-watch it and experience it all over again 🎬

omg u guys i'm so hyped for kill bill: the whole bloody affair finally dropping after 20 yrs!!! its like the most epic thing ever tarantino is literally a genius he always pushes boundaries & experiments with new formats & i love how they added this animated lost chapter its wild tho tho some fans might be like what was the point of that lol but honestly i think it just shows tarantino's willingness to take risks & try new things & yeah uma thurman as the bride is still giving me LIFE her performance never gets old

I gotta say, I'm a bit surprised they finally released this extended cut 🤔. 20 years is a long time to wait, especially for fans like me who have been dying to see it all in one go. And let's be real, the added 30 minutes doesn't exactly change everything - I mean, we've had those bits since '05 anyway 😂. But hey, more Uma Thurman as the Bride is always a good thing 💁‍♀️. I do think Tarantino's got some nerve including that Fortnite tie-in thing though 🤦‍♂️. Not really the most artistic choice, if you ask me 👎.

I'm not sure about this whole thing... 🤔 Like, I get that Quentin Tarantino is a genius and all, but 4.5 hours of Kill Bill? Is that really necessary? 😩 The original two-part version was already kinda epic, you know? But at the same time, I can see why fans would want to see more of O-Ren's backstory or Elle Driver's character development... 🤔

And yeah, Uma Thurman is still a total boss as the Bride - that woman can bring the drama and action like no one else! 💁‍♀️ But for me, the real magic happened in the first two movies, you know? The pacing was tighter, the editing was snappier... 🎥 It's funny how something as long as Kill Bill could feel so... indulgent? 😳

But hey, if you're a die-hard Tarantino fan or just wanna experience his masterwork in all its glory, then go for it! 🎬 Just don't say I didn't warn you when your eyes glaze over at the 3-hour mark... 😴

can't believe they're finally releasing Kill Bill in all its bloody glory 🤯 4.5 hours is a lot to ask from anyone, but tarantino just makes it happen 💪 i remember when it first came out and it was like nothing anyone had ever seen before, still holds up today 🎥 the only thing that's slightly annoying is that extra "lost" chapter in fortnite lol what were they thinking? 🤷‍♂️ anyway, can't wait to dive back into this epic revenge saga with all its mind-blowing twists and turns 💥 tarantino just knows how to make a film experience unlike any other 🎬

I'm not sure I'd bother with this 4.5 hour behemoth 🤯. I mean, Quentin Tarantino is a genius and all, but can we really stomach an epic revenge saga that clocks in at over 4 hours? That's just ridiculous 😂. And don't even get me started on the 'lost' animated chapter... what was he thinking?! 🤔 It feels like a waste of time to me.

I do love Uma Thurman as the Bride, though - she's still got it 💁‍♀️. But I think the real magic happens when Tarantino cuts the film down to its essentials. That way, you can really feel each punch, each kill, and each dramatic moment without feeling like you're stuck in a never-ending marathon 🏃‍♂️.

Anyway, if you're a die-hard Kill Bill fan or just love Tarantino's style, go for it... but don't say I didn't warn you 😅.

I'm low-key hyped about this new cut of Kill Bill 🤯🎥 I mean, 20 years is a looong time to wait for something like this! Tarantino's always been known for pushing boundaries and experimenting with formats, so it's cool that he decided to add an animated "lost" chapter. It feels a bit tacked on, but hey, it's still dope to see more of O-Ren Ishii's backstory 🤖

The thing is, though - does this longer version really change the way you feel about Kill Bill? For me, it's still the same epic revenge tale that I loved all those years ago. Uma Thurman's performance as the Bride is just so captivating, and she's still the reason why we care about this story so much ❤️

I think what I love most about Kill Bill is how it defies traditional pacing and narrative structure - it's like a wild ride from start to finish 🎢 And honestly, even with the longer cut, some parts might feel a bit slow or meandering. But that's all part of its charm, right?

omg, i'm so hyped that kill bill is finally getting a longer version 🤩!! like, 20 years since its initial release and it was split into two movies... that's crazy! tarantino's decision to keep the whole thing together now makes sense, especially with all those minor tweaks. but what's up with this extra animated chapter tho? 🤔 i mean, it's not really part of the original story, is it? anyway, one thing's for sure - uma thurman's performance still gives me chills 😱. she's truly the reason kill bill has become a masterpiece. can't wait to re-watch this epic revenge saga and experience tarantino's genius all over again 🎥💥

omg u guys 🤯 kill bill is still the same epic masterpiece we all know and love but i gotta say, the longer version is kinda worth it just to see all those extra scenes + o-ren's backstory 🙌 and yeah, uma thruman's performance still gives me LIFE 💁‍♀️ anyway, i think its dope that tarantino pushed boundaries with this new cut but idk how much of an impact it'll have on new fans who might not be as invested in the original 2-movie version 🤔
