Dončić will pay teammate's fine after heated confrontation in Lakers' win over Clippers

Luka Doncic Stands Up for Teammate After Heated Confrontation with Kris Dunn.

Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic was involved in a heated confrontation with Los Angeles Clippers player Kris Dunn during Tuesday's game at the Lakers' downtown arena. The Slovenian superstar, who scored 43 points, 13 assists and nine rebounds to lead his team to a 135-118 victory, had words for Dunn after he was checked into the back.

Doncic has a history with Dunn, and their verbal sparring is not new. In December 2023, they were both given technical fouls during a game between the Dallas Mavericks and Utah Jazz. Last March, Dunn appeared to injure Doncic with a trip from behind when the Lakers faced the Clippers.

However, it was Jaxson Hayes who stood up for his teammate, shoving Dunn twice after he attempted to retaliate with a swat at Hayes's head while officials separated them. As a result, Hayes will receive a technical foul, but won't be fined as the NBA has decided not to impose any financial penalty on him.

Doncic was quick to praise his teammate for backing him up and stated that it's what he loves about his team - everyone having each other's back. He also acknowledged that the special courts used for NBA Cup games can be slippery, saying "Adjust the courts, please... it's just slippery. It's dangerous."

The comments from Doncic come as complaints about the special courts have been growing in recent weeks. Other players have expressed concerns over the safety of playing on unworn hardwood, citing injuries such as Jaylen Brown's groin injury in 2023.

Despite his concerns, Doncic appeared to be in high spirits after the game, joking that he would accept any money earned from their group win, which will earn him at least $53,000.

I'm so glad Jaxson Hayes stepped up for Luka 😊, it's all about having each other's backs on this team. I mean, you can't blame Kris Dunn for trying to retaliate after that nasty trip from behind tho 🤦‍♂️. But seriously, the special courts are a legit concern - I've seen guys go down hard on those slippery surfaces 👣. It's not just about adjusting the courts, it's about player safety too 💯. Doncic knows his stuff and he's right to speak up about it 👊. And lol at Luka joking about taking all the money 🤑, that's what we love about him!

🤝 Luka Doncic is the ultimate team player! I love how he's always got his teammates' backs, and Jaxson Hayes totally came through for him after that heated confrontation with Kris Dunn 🙌. The special courts are definitely a concern, though - those things can be super slippery 😬. But seriously, it's awesome to see the guys looking out for each other on the court 💪. And doncic's just trying to bring some humor to the situation, which is what we need more of in life 🤣. All in all, I'm loving this team dynamic - they're like a big ol' family on and off the court 👪!

lol this situation with Kris Dunn and Jaxson Hayes is just crazy 🤯 I mean, come on Luka Doncic knows how to handle himself but his teammate Jaxson Hayes stepped up big time 💪 the courts might be slippery but players gotta watch each other's backs anyway 🤝 and I gotta give props to Jaxson for not letting Kris get under his skin after that nasty trip in March 😒 Luka says it's all about team unity and having each other's backs, I'm down with that 👍

I gotta say, Luka Doncic is a total boss for standing up for Jaxson Hayes! 🤩 I mean, Dunn tried to retaliate after being checked into the back and all Hayes did was defend his teammate, that's what teammates are for! 💪 It's awesome to see guys looking out for each other like that. Doncic is right, it's all about having each other's backs on and off the court. And I'm with him on adjusting those slippery courts too, safety first, you know? 🙅‍♂️ That game was crazy though, 43 points from Doncic is insane! 🤯

come on, special courts are still a bad idea 🤔... don't need all those fancy courts to have some injuries 😬... doncic's right, just adjust the surface or something 👋... and what's with Dunn always trying to take out his teammates? 💪 don't get me wrong, luka's right about having each other's back, but it's not like hayes had no choice 🤷‍♂️... jaxson should've just talked to the ref instead of shoving him 🙅‍♂️... anyway, glad they won and all, but can we please just stick with normal courts for now? 💸

omg i was literally shaking while watching this game lol 😂 I'm so happy Jaxson Hayes stood up for Luka Doncic! Those courts are crazy slippery tho 🤦‍♂️ like what if someone gets seriously hurt? idk about the NBA not fining Jaxson though, should be a warning or something... but i guess that's progress right? 😊 anyway luka seems like such a cool dude and his teammate vibes are everything 💯 he just wants to have fun on the court and play for the team 🤗

🤝 just think about all the extra stress luka doncic could've taken from having to deal with kris dunn's crap on the court... but jaxson hayes stepped up and showed him some love 💪 that's what teammates are for, right? and luka's comment about the courts being slippery got me thinking, they really should consider upgrading those surfaces or at least provide some extra grip 🤦‍♂️ it's just basic safety, you know?

omg u gotta love luka doncic 💖 he's literally standing up for his teammate jaxson hayes even when kris dunn tries to retaliate 😂 i mean we all know dunn and doncic have a history, but it's so cool to see the camaraderie between them on the court. and don't even get me started on those courts lol they need to adjust 'em already! 🤯 luka said it straight up - "adjust the courts, please... it's just slippery. it's dangerous." 👍 gotta agree with him on that one. and btw, $53k from their group win? luka is literally living his best life 💸

omg i'm so proud of Jaxson Hayes 🙌! standing up for Luka like that is amazing 💪. it's clear they've got each other's backs and that's what makes a great team 😊. and omg, doncic is hilarious about the courts being slippery 😂. i mean, it's not exactly rocket science to figure that out 🤔. but seriously, injuries are no joke and we need to make sure our players are safe on those courts 💯. good on Luka for speaking up too 👏!

🤩 I love seeing Luka Doncic's leadership shine through like this! He's got a great team behind him and it's awesome to see them supporting each other on the court. Jaxson Hayes stepped up big time for his teammate and it's clear they've got a strong bond 🤝. And can we talk about how slippery those special courts are? 😂 Just saying, an adjustment wouldn't hurt anyone... safety first, am I right? 💪

omg what a moment tho 🤯! i was just reading about it yesterday but it seems like Jaxson Hayes really came through for Luka 🙌. like, you gotta respect the dude for backing up his teammate like that 💕. and lol at Luka's comment about adjusting the courts 😂... yeah, those courts can be super slippery! happened to me once and i fell on my butt 🤦‍♂️. anyway, glad to see Luka's all good despite what went down earlier 😊.

🤩 I think it's awesome that Jaxson Hayes stood up for Luka Doncic like that! 😊 I mean, you can't fault anyone for having each other's backs in a tough moment like that. And let's be real, the NBA courts can be pretty slippery, so don't even get me started on that 🤣... like, seriously though, it's great to see players looking out for each other and not letting the drama get to them.

And I love how Luka is taking the high road too - instead of focusing on what happened between him and Kris Dunn, he's praising his teammate for backing him up. That's what it's all about, right? Teamwork and having fun 🏀💖. Plus, who doesn't love a good win and some extra cash? 💸 I'm sure Luka will enjoy that group win money... maybe even splurge on something nice 😊!
