Arne Slot's woes deepen as awful Liverpool are thrashed by PSV at Anfield

Liverpool's dismal form shows no signs of abating under Arne Slot, the Danish manager who inherited a team on cloud nine after their Premier League title win last season. The latest blow came at the hands of Dutch side PSV Eindhoven, who inflicted a crushing 4-1 defeat on Liverpool in front of their own fans.

Nine defeats in 12 games - the worst run in 71 years for Liverpool - speaks volumes about Slot's struggles to stem the bleeding. A team that should be enjoying its golden era under new ownership worth almost £450m has been reduced to a shell of its former self, with the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Jürgen Klopp seemingly powerless to stop the freefall.

The latest defeat was all too predictable, with Liverpool's defending once again being exposed by their opponents. A penalty from PSV's Ivan Perisic in the 5th minute set the tone for a disastrous night, which only worsened as the game wore on. Slot's men were unable to respond to the early blow, and it wasn't until the 15th minute that they finally managed to level the scores.

A goal from Dominik Szoboszlai in the 18th minute seemed to give Liverpool a lifeline, but their hopes of turning the game around were quickly extinguished. Mauro Júnior's strike in the 35th minute gave PSV a two-goal lead at halftime, and despite a second-half surge, Slot's team could not find a way back into the game.

The visitors' fourth goal, scored by Couhaib Driouech with just minutes left on the clock, sealed the win for PSV, leaving Liverpool reeling. The result was met with a mixture of disappointment and despair from the Anfield faithful, who watched their team slip further away from a top-four finish.

Slot's future hangs in the balance after this dismal display. His players' body language told a story of despondency and hopelessness, and the once confident manager seems lost for words to explain his team's woes. The Liverpool fans, who have been vocal in their support for Slot since he took the reins, are beginning to lose patience with his inability to turn the ship around.

The Jürgen Klopp era is already being forgotten, replaced by memories of last season's title win and an existential crisis under new ownership. As the Reds' fans search for answers, one thing is clear: something needs to change if they are to have any hope of salvaging this season from the ashes of their own ineptitude.

I'm low-key shocked that Liverpool is having such a disastrous season 🤯 PSV Eindhoven's 4-1 win was expected, but it just feels like a bigger problem than that - they're playing with a lack of cohesion and leadership, and it's getting embarrassing 🤦‍♂️ Arne Slot needs to take responsibility for this mess, but his excuses won't cut it when the results keep piling up 😩 The fact that Virgil van Dijk and Jürgen Klopp are struggling to stop the bleeding is a major concern - they're not even getting any younger, so we need to see some serious changes ASAP 💪

I don’t usually comment but I gotta say... Liverpool's situation right now is really concerning 🤕. They were on cloud nine last season and now it feels like they're stuck in a rut. Arne Slot just doesn't seem to be getting it done, and with the team's form being so poor, it's hard to see them turning this ship around anytime soon.

I mean, Virgil van Dijk and Jürgen Klopp can only do so much if the rest of the team isn't on board. And it's not just about Slot, Liverpool's ownership is worth a fortune but they're struggling to make the most of it 💸. The fans are getting frustrated and I don't blame them one bit.

Something needs to change at Anfield ASAP or else this season will be a complete write-off 📝. Maybe some fresh faces in the dugout or a major overhaul of the team? Whatever it is, Liverpool's fans deserve better than what they're seeing right now 😞.

I'm telling ya, 9 defeats in 12 games is actually a pretty good run for Liverpool... I mean, at least they're not getting thrashed every week like some other teams 😅. But seriously though, Arne Slot's tactics are super questionable - he's gotta mix things up and get his players more involved. And I'm all for the fans being vocal about their discontent, but at the same time, can't they just give the guy a break? He inherited a team that was on cloud nine last season, for crying out loud! It's not like he's been given some sort of magic wand to make everything better... 🤷‍♂️. On the other hand, the players' body language did look pretty despondent, and Jürgen Klopp's return seems like a possibility... I guess only time will tell if that'll be enough to turn things around 💔

I mean, come on... 9 defeats in 12 games? That's crazy! 🤯 I know Liverpool just won the title last year and all, but it looks like this season is going to be a bit of a struggle for them. Arne Slot's gotta do something to turn things around, but it's clear that the team's not feeling confident right now 😔. Virgil van Dijk and Jürgen Klopp can't even stop the bleeding? That's just wild! 🤷‍♂️

On a more positive note, though... I guess this means Liverpool's new owners are really serious about investing in their team. £450m is no joke! 💸 They might finally get some results if they bring in some fresh talent and shake things up. And hey, at least the fans are still supporting Slot, right? That shows some loyalty there 😊. So yeah, this season's gonna be a tough one for Liverpool, but I'm sure they'll bounce back eventually 🌈.

lol what's going on with Liverpool? they were on cloud nine last season but now it's like they're stuck in a dark cloud 🌨️. arne slot is definitely struggling and i'm not sure if he's got what it takes to turn things around. the team looks so lost and demoralized, it's like they've given up 😔. jürgen klopp was doing such a good job before he left, but now it feels like no one knows how to move forward.

i'm not sure if £450m is worth almost 9 defeats in 12 games though 🤑. something needs to change fast or this season is going down the drain. i feel bad for the fans who were expecting so much after last season's title win, they deserve better than this 💔. maybe slot just needs a break or some fresh eyes coming in to shake things up? but honestly, it's getting to the point where you wonder if anyone can turn this team around... 🤯

I'm really worried about Liverpool right now 🤕. They had such a great run last season and were expecting big things, but it seems like Arne Slot's appointment has been a major misstep 😔. Nine defeats in 12 games is just ridiculous - they need to get their act together ASAP. The fans are getting frustrated and it's hard not to blame the manager when the team isn't performing 🙄. I feel for Jürgen Klopp, he deserved better after all his years of service to the club. Maybe it's time for a change in tactics or even the manager himself? Whatever it is, Liverpool needs to snap out of this slump and get back to winning ways ASAP! 💪

ugh i feel like slot got dealt a tough hand he took over in such a great position after klopp left and then had to navigate all these external pressures like new owners and expectation management lol meanwhile liverpool is over here struggling big time 🤦‍♂️ this season has been a total rollercoaster for the team they went from champions to looking like they need to rebuild idk how slot can turn things around on his own he needs some serious support from the club but at the same time i feel bad for him cuz he's getting roasted by fans who are still holding out hope that he can do the impossible 🤞

omg i feel so bad 4 liverpool right now 🤕 they went from being on top of the world after winning the title last season to struggling like crazy now 😩 i dont get what slot is doing, he cant even stop the bleeding 💉 nine defeats in 12 games is just too much 😳 and its not just the team itself, its the fans who r getting desperate 😭 they need someone new to come in & sort out this mess ASAP 🚫

Ugh I'm so done with Liverpool right now 🤦‍♂️😩 They were riding high on that Premier League title win and then what happens? They get embarrassed by PSV Eindhoven 4-1 in front of their own fans? Slot's gotta do better than this, like seriously he can't even stop a 4-goal onslaught. The players look lost and hopeless, it's like they're going through the motions 🙅‍♂️. And now Klopp's legacy is being questioned...it's not fair to him, he deserves so much better from his team.
