Anicet Ekane: Cameroon opposition firebrand dies in detention aged 74

That's so sad to hear about Anicet Ekane 😔. He sounded like such an amazing person, fighting for what he believed in and using his voice to bring about change in Cameroon 🇨🇲. It's completely unacceptable that the government was denying him access to his medication and putting his life at risk during detention 💊. I'm so angry on his behalf! 😤 But it sounds like there is an investigation underway, so fingers crossed that justice will be served soon ⚖️. The fact that he was never charged with a crime despite being detained for five weeks just highlights the bigger issue of human rights abuses in Cameroon 🙅‍♂️. I hope Akere Muna's words about Ekane inspiring more people to stand up against oppression and fight for democracy will live on 💪.

Man, this is just really sad... 74 years old and still fighting for what's right in his country 🤕. The government's response to Ekane's death is just, like, totally unacceptable. Denying him access to meds and then saying he got proper care while he was detained? No way, that's just not true. His lawyers have proof that they never even took him in front of a judge, it's crazy.

And the fact that this happened right after all those protests against President Biya's re-election... it's like the government is trying to silence anyone who speaks out against them. Ekane was all about promoting democracy and human rights, and now he's gone 🕊️. It's heartbreaking for his family and friends, and for the people of Cameroon.

The government needs to get its act together and start taking responsibility for their actions. This is just another example of how they're not willing to listen to opposition voices and instead try to suppress them through any means necessary. We need to hold them accountable for this... it's just not right 🤬.

man i just heard about this and its heartbreaking ekane sounded like an amazing dude who fought hard for what he believed in and now hes gone it makes me think of all the injustices going on in cameroon and how they just sweep things under the rug like 48 people getting killed during protests yeah that cant be right

i dont know what to make of the government's denial but its clear that something went terribly wrong especially with him not being able to get his meds its like they prioritized keeping a person quiet over their life so we need to find out whats really going on and hold ppl accountable

ekane was definitely a flame for change and we need more people like him who will keep pushing for reform
