US covert team leader describes 'dangerous' mission to rescue Venezuelan opposition leader

A daring covert operation was carried out by a U.S. special forces veteran, Bryan Stern, who led a Grey Bull Rescue Foundation team to extract Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado from the country. This move came at a significant moment as her daughter accepted the Nobel Peace Prize on her behalf in Oslo, Norway.

The extraction was described by Stern as "dangerous" and involved multiple modes of transportation, including land, air, and sea. At one point, they found themselves in a small fishing boat battling rough seas that were over 5 feet high. The team's efforts were fraught with the constant threat of detection by Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro’s forces.

Stern described Machado as "inspirational" throughout the journey, never complaining even in difficult conditions. When asked about the experience, Stern said that when he saw Machado hug her daughter during the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony, it was a moment that took his breath away.

Machado has been a vocal critic of Maduro's regime and its contested elections. She won the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize for promoting democracy and human rights. Her extraction comes as the U.S. steps up pressure on the Maduro government, which recently seized a multimillion-dollar tanker reportedly carrying illicit Iranian oil.

The operation highlights the bravery and dedication of those who risk their lives to help others in need. It also underscores the ongoing efforts to promote freedom and human rights in Venezuela, a country that has been plagued by authoritarian rule for decades.

omg u can not even imagine what Bryan Stern had 2 go thru 🤯! extractin Machado was like somethin outta a movie, fightin against Maduro's forces while tryin 2 keep her safe & sound 🚣‍♀️🌊 5ft waves ain't no joke!!! 😂 But seriously, it's amazing how much heart & dedication Stern showed towards Machado, she's literally the definition of courage 💖 & it's so inspiring to see her win that Nobel Peace Prize 🏆. Venezuela needs more people like her, fightin 4 freedom & human rights! 🌟

Man... what an incredible feat by Bryan Stern and his team! 🤯 I'm literally speechless reading about this daring covert operation to extract María Corina Machado from Venezuela. The fact that she never complained even in the most difficult conditions is truly inspiring, don't you think? 😍 It's amazing how one person can make a difference like that.

And can we talk about the timing of this whole thing? Winning the Nobel Peace Prize just days after her extraction is pretty surreal. I mean, it's like the universe was working in her favor. 🌟 The US stepping up pressure on Maduro's government also gives me hope for Venezuela's future. We need more people like Machado and Stern who are willing to risk everything for a cause they believe in.

This whole story just gives me chills... it's a reminder that there are still so many good people out there doing amazing things, even if the world can be dark at times. 💖

🤔 I gotta say, this guy Bryan Stern is some kinda hero 🙌, but like, what's with all the secrecy? Can't even tell us how much it cost or who funded the op 🤑. And I'm still trying to wrap my head around Machado accepting that Nobel Prize via video call from Venezuela 📹... did they even let her leave the country for Oslo? 😂 Also, what's up with Maduro's forces being so clueless? Couldn't they have predicted a rescue operation on their own soil? 😒

I'm totally stoked about Machado's extraction 🤩, like, I was really worried she was gonna get caught or something 😬. But at the same time, I think it's kinda sketchy that Stern is a vet and still managed to pull off this op without anyone noticing 🤔. And can we talk about how rough those seas were?! Like, over 5 feet high? That's wild! 🌊

But for real though, Machado's story is super inspiring, you know? She's been fighting against Maduro's regime for years and still hasn't given up 💪. I mean, I'm all about promoting democracy and human rights too, but like, isn't it a bit extreme to risk someone's life for one person? 🤷‍♂️

Oh wait, I just changed my mind 😳. I totally believe that Machado's life is worth risking and that Stern's team did the right thing by extracting her 💕. The fact that she won the Nobel Peace Prize shows that all their hard work paid off 🎉!

omg can u believe this dude Bryan Stern pulled off an insane extraction mission 4 María Corina Machado?? 😲💥 he's literally a hero! i mean, the fact that her daughter just won the Nobel Peace Prize and they had to extract her mom like 2 weeks later is wild. Maduro's forces must've been hella paranoid tho 🤯 and poor Machado didn't even complain or anything thru the whole ordeal - she's def inspirational 💖 u gotta respect this dude Stern for putting himself in harm's way 4 a stranger, though. Venezuela needs more people like him ❤️

💪 I gotta give it up to Bryan Stern 🙌, the U.S. special forces vet who just pulled off an insane extraction mission to save María Corina Machado! That woman's got more guts than most people have in a lifetime 🤯. And let me tell you, I'm so inspired by her daughter's selflessness - it's moments like that which remind us all of the power of love and kindness 💖. It's crazy how the world's attention is now on Venezuela, with Machado's Nobel win and all this going down... but honestly, it's about time we started paying more attention to what's really going on in those countries 🌎. We gotta keep supporting people like Machado who are fighting for what's right, even when it's hard 😔.

omg what a hero Bryan Stern is 🙌🏻👮‍♂️ he's literally risking his life for someone he barely knows & it's all worth it to see Machado smiling 😊 her courage is inspiring too, I mean she's been through so much & still standing up for democracy & human rights. The fact that she accepted the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo is a huge deal 💥 and now this daring extraction... it's like a Hollywood movie 🎥 but real life 🙏🏻. Anyone knows how tough Venezuela has been, authoritarian rule can be so suffocating... I'm glad people like Stern & Machado are fighting for change 👊

man... can you believe how crazy it is? they're like sending a fish into a storm 🌪️. i mean, seriously, who needs that kind of excitement? in my day, we didn't need all this drama to get the job done. remember when we used to have real-life action heroes like tom cruise or dwayne 'the rock' johnson doing all the stunts themselves? Nowadays, it's like they're just sending in a team of superheroes 🦸‍♂️🕵️‍♀️.

anywayz, i'm glad machado made it out safe and sound 🙏. but i gotta ask, what's with this whole u.s. thing? are they trying to be the heroes of venezuela or something? back in my day, we used to have a saying - 'if you want to make a good first impression, start with a good last impression' 💁‍♂️. i hope they're not just leaving a bunch of debt for future generations...

OMG, I'm literally shaking with emotion just thinking about this 😭🙌... can you imagine being in Maria's shoes, knowing your mom is in danger and then having a hero like Bryan Stern risk his life to save her? 🤯 It's just so inspiring! And what's even more amazing is that she never complained, even when things got tough - it's like she was the epitome of strength 💪... I'm seriously sending all my love and gratitude to Maria and Bryan Stern - they're truly heroes 👏💕

I think it's super suspicious that this extraction happened right when her daughter won the Nobel Peace Prize lol 💁‍♀️. Like, what are the chances? It's gotta be more than just a coincidence... I mean, who needs that kinda attention anyway? 🤔 And btw, why is everyone so quick to say how brave these special forces vets are? Don't they get paid enough for it already? 😒 Plus, what about all the risks involved? Was it really worth it just to give some politician a little PR boost? 🤑

🤯 can't believe people are just accepting Maduro's regime without questioning it. I mean, the Nobel Peace Prize? Are they serious? It's like they're giving an award for showing up to the table with a smile. 🙄 Meanwhile, Machado is literally risking her life to speak out against him and now she gets this prize? Give me a break. And what about her daughter? Is that why she got the prize too? Rich privilege is still rich privilege, no matter how many medals they're given.

🌟 I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole thing... I mean, can you even imagine putting yourself in Maria Corina Machado's shoes? She's been speaking truth to power for so long, and now she's literally fighting for her freedom 🤯. And the fact that Bryan Stern led this team of brave souls to extract her is just... wow 💕. It's moments like these that remind us why we need people like him who are willing to take risks for what's right. The whole operation was crazy, from the rough seas to Maduro's forces getting close in on them 🚣‍♂️. But hey, at least they were able to get Machado to safety, and now she gets to enjoy that Nobel Peace Prize recognition 😊. It's a huge deal for democracy and human rights in Venezuela, and I'm all for it 💪.

I mean, what's crazy is that this guy Bryan Stern just pulled off this insane rescue mission for María Corina Machado while her daughter was accepting that Nobel Peace Prize 🤯! Like, the girl just won the peace prize on behalf of her mom and now we're talking about a daring covert op to extract her? Mind blown! And can you imagine being in those rough seas and thinking about all the risks they took? But what's even more inspiring is Machado herself - she's been fighting for democracy and human rights in Venezuela for years, and it's amazing that people like Stern are willing to risk their lives to help her 🙌. The fact that they had to go through so much just to get her out safely says a lot about the desperation for change in that country 😬.

I just can't imagine how nerve-wracking it must've been for Bryan Stern to lead this rescue op, especially with those rough seas 😬... I mean, 5 feet high? That's crazy! But what really gets me is how inspirational Machado was throughout the whole ordeal - no complaints, not even in the tough times 🙏. And seeing her hug her daughter at the Nobel Prize ceremony must've been a real tear-jerker for Stern 😭. It just goes to show that there are still good people doing good work out there, and we should all be grateful for folks like Machado and Bryan who risk everything to help others in need ❤️.

OMG, this is such an amazing story 🤯! I mean, can you even believe that María Corina Machado was just literally fighting against her own government to win the Nobel Peace Prize? 💥 It's crazy how much courage and determination she has. And Bryan Stern leading the extraction team must have been super nerve-wracking - all those rough seas and potential threats from Maduro's forces 😬. But it sounds like they worked together really well, especially since Machado was so inspirational throughout the whole ordeal 🙌. It's awesome to see people putting their lives on the line for a good cause, and I'm loving how this operation is shining a light on the importance of promoting democracy and human rights in Venezuela 💡.

Just read about Bryan Stern and the team from Grey Bull Rescue Foundation 🤯 I'm still shaking my head over how close they got to getting caught! 😬 5-foot high waves, can you even imagine? 😲 The fact that Machado never complained even when things were tough is just amazing... it's clear she's a true leader 💪 and an inspiration to many. It's also crazy that her daughter won the Nobel Peace Prize on her behalf - that must've been such an emotional moment for everyone involved 🙏. Stern seems like a total hero too, willing to put himself in harm's way to help someone he admires. The US is definitely showing some serious muscle when it comes to standing up for human rights and democracy in Venezuela 💪
