Elon Musk's Twitter bird logo has been replaced with an image of a Shiba Inu, the breed behind the joke cryptocurrency dogecoin. The switch comes as part of a year-old conversation between Musk and another user who suggested that he could just buy Twitter and change the logo to a doge.

Just days after Musk asked a judge to dismiss a $258 billion racketeering lawsuit accusing him of running a pyramid scheme to support dogecoin, the Shiba Inu image appeared on the site. Lawyers for Musk and Tesla have labeled the lawsuit as "fanciful work of fiction" over Musk's tweets about supporting dogecoin.

The price of dogecoin has surged more than 20% in the past 24 hours, trading at around 9 cents per coin. The cryptocurrency was created just a few years ago by software engineers who were poking fun at internet culture. Its mascot is a Shiba Inu, which bears a resemblance to an image of a "doge" meme that became popular online.

It's not clear whether the logo change will be permanent, as Musk has a history of using Twitter to troll his fans and critics. The move seems to have given dogecoin investors some cause for optimism, at least in the short term.
