'I've had all the luck you can get': Michael Caine retires for the fourth time

Michael Caine appears to have hung up his acting boots for the fourth time, after accepting a lifetime achievement award at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia. In an emotional speech, the veteran actor seemed to confirm that he's done with the industry, citing his 90th birthday two years ago as the turning point. "I kept going until I was 90, which was two years ago, and I thought to myself, 'I'm not going to do anything else because I've had all the luck you can get,'" Caine told the audience.

Caine's career spans an impressive 74 films, including gang crime drama Harry Brown and medieval epic Medieval. However, it seems he's finally decided that enough is enough. "The only parts I'm likely to get now are old men, 90-year-old men, maybe 85," Caine quipped during a promotional interview for his latest film. His love of acting has been well-documented over the years, but it appears even the prospect of a good review and lucrative roles isn't enough to tempt him back.

But don't count Caine out just yet. Speaking to The Guardian earlier this year, he mentioned that he'd be shooting a new movie about Charles Darwin next year. "And that'll be it," he said wistfully. "I won't do another one after." However, when pressed on whether he was certain, Caine hedged his bets, saying, "No! But the point is...can you do it?" It seems Caine has grown accustomed to not working and enjoying a more relaxed lifestyle.

The announcement that Anthony Hopkins will be starring in the Darwin film has been met with excitement from fans. Meanwhile, Caine's family – including three grandchildren, wife Shakira, and two daughters – watched proudly as he accepted his award in Saudi Arabia. When asked for his real name, Caine quipped, "It's not my real name but it's a realistic name...it's the one that made all the money." He added, "I've been married for 52 years...and I have loads of photographs, but none are of any of the movies I am in...it's just family, because that's my life."

As Caine accepted his award, he was visibly moved by the applause. "You've surprised me," he said with a smile. "In show business, you never get many surprises, but you get a couple of shocks...thank you."

I'm gonna miss seeing Michael Caine on screen anymore 🎬😒 He's had an amazing career and it's impressive that he's decided to hang up his boots for real this time. 90 is still pretty young, but I guess even the most talented people need to know when to stop. It's nice that he's found happiness in life outside of acting, though - 52 years of marriage is no joke! πŸ€΅β€β™‚οΈ I'm curious to see him in his new Darwin biopic with Anthony Hopkins though... maybe he'll still surprise us one last time 😏

man I feel like michael caine is totally done with acting 🀣 he's been saying that he won't do it again and now he's getting all these offers for old man roles idk if anyone can pull off playing themselves at 90 lol πŸ˜‚ but u know what's even crazier? he still wants to make a movie about charles darwin next year! πŸŽ₯πŸ¦– like who else is gonna play the role of chuck d besides anthony hopkins tho? πŸ€” anyway Caine seems super chill with retirement life and I'm low-key jealous lol 😴 he's been married for 52 yrs and still got it goin on πŸ‘

The curtains are finally closing on Michael Caine's illustrious acting career πŸŽ¬πŸ‘ it's hard to believe the man who brought us iconic roles like Harry Brown and Alfred Pennyworth has decided to hang up his boots for good 🀯 at 90 years young, one can't help but feel a mix of emotions - sadness that we won't get to see him on screen again, yet pride in all he's accomplished πŸ’ͺ. it's clear he's had enough, no more late night shoots or grueling promotional tours πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ he's opted for a quieter life, one filled with family and loved ones πŸ‘ͺ.

but before we bid adieu to the legendary actor, there's still that Darwin film coming up - who knows what's next? πŸ€” it's not like Caine has lost his touch, he still has a knack for storytelling πŸ’‘. will this be a swan song or just another chapter in his remarkable career? only time will tell πŸ•°οΈ either way, we'll miss him on screen and take comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on through the countless films he's left behind πŸŽ₯.

omg can u believe michael caine is hangin up his boots like 4 times already 🀣 guess that's just the longevity level of some ppl tho. anyway, i gotta give it to him for goin out with such style & wit πŸ’β€β™‚οΈ he's been in so many iconic films but i think my fave quote from him is "the only parts i'm likely to get now are old men, 90-year-old men, maybe 85" lolol like, yeah no kidding michael πŸ˜‚

he's 90 and still got it πŸ˜‚ cant blame the bloke for takin' a break tho, all that acting must take its toll on ya. plus, who wouldn't wanna spend their golden years with the fam? his career span is insane though, from harry brown to medieval epic - he's had some wild roles. but now it seems like he's ready to hang up his boots for real πŸ™. can imagine it'll be a bittersweet moment when he finally does tho

man ican't believe micahel cain is hangin up his boots for good πŸ€―β€β™‚οΈ he's been in the game for so long and still manage to bring it even at 90 i feel bad for him tho, all those years of dedication and now its time to chill i guess he got a little tired of playin the old gus roles lol can't wait to see the darwin film tho with anthony hopkins though that's gonna be lit πŸ”₯

He's done it, I think πŸ˜‚. This 90-year-old legend finally hanging up his boots after that lifetime achievement award in Saudi Arabia πŸ™Œ. Can't say I'm surprised though, he's been saying the same thing for months now 🀣. Thinks he'll only get old-man roles from now on, but hey, who wouldn't want to play a 90-year-old version of themselves? πŸ˜‚

I love how emotional he was when accepting that award tho πŸ’”. You could tell he was genuinely touched by the applause and all the praise. And can we talk about his sense of humor for a sec? "It's not my real name but it's a realistic name..." πŸ€£πŸ˜‚ I wish more people would be that cheeky in interviews.

It's also cool to see his family there supporting him, especially those grandkids πŸ‘§πŸ». They must be so proud of their grandfather. And hey, who knows, maybe he'll change his mind about retiring and do one more film just for the sake of it? Stranger things have happened πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I'm shocked that Michael Caine is finally retiring from acting 🀯. I mean, who wouldn't want to do it all again? He's had an amazing career and can still bring so much depth to his roles. It's like he's taking a permanent nap 😴. 74 films is nothing to sneeze at! And what about that new Darwin film? Are we sure he's done for good? πŸ€” I think he's just getting started...or maybe I'm just crazy 😜.

πŸ˜ŠπŸŽ¬πŸ‘΄ oh man cant believe michael caine retired again 🀯 after all those iconic roles like harry brown and medieval πŸ™Œ his love for acting is legendary πŸ‘ especially when he said "i kept going until i was 90 which was two years ago" πŸ˜‚

but seriously it's crazy to think about the man behind the legends like alfie and inn of the blue birds ❀️ his career has been a wild ride with so many classics πŸŽ₯ and i love how humble he is even when basking in all that success πŸ‘‘ "the only parts ill get now are old men 90-year-old men maybe 85" πŸ˜‚

anyway cant wait to see him star alongside anthony hopkins as charles darwin πŸ¦œπŸ”¬ hopefully its the last acting gig for the man πŸ’«

I don’t usually comment but I feel for this guy πŸ€—. 90 is crazy old to be stopping acting altogether. Can't imagine what it's like to have had such an amazing career and still wanting to hang up your boots πŸ˜”. He seems so humble and down-to-earth, too - that joke about his "real" name made me laugh πŸ’β€β™‚οΈ. But at the same time, I'm excited for him to be focusing on family life and enjoying a more relaxed pace 🌴. Still, it's hard not to feel a little sad that we won't get to see Michael Caine on screen again πŸ’”. I guess that's just how the story goes sometimes...
